Privacy Policy

Who we are

Dernek is an event discovery platform for Bosnia and Herzegovina, operated at dernekbih.com. We help people find concerts, parties, festivals, and cultural events in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Tuzla, Zenica, and other cities across BiH. For data-related enquiries, contact support@dernekbih.com.

Data we collect

We only collect what we need to run the service:

• Account data — your name and email address when you create an account or sign in with Google. We store a hashed user ID from Firebase Authentication.
• Event submissions — organizer name, email, phone number, event details, images, and links that you enter when you submit an event for review.
• Saved events — a list of event IDs you mark as interested, linked to your account.
• Newsletter signups — your email address and selected city if you choose to subscribe to our weekly event digest.
• Artist follows and claims — artist slugs you follow or request to manage, linked to your account.
• Usage data — Firebase Analytics may collect anonymised data on page views and feature usage. No personal identifiers are included.

How we use your data

• To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• To save and display your interested events and followed artists.
• To process and review event submissions before publishing them on the platform.
• To send you the weekly event digest if you signed up — you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing support@dernekbih.com.
• To contact event organisers about their submission status.
• To understand which parts of the site are used most (aggregated, anonymised analytics only).

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure services listed below.

Third-party services

Dernek is built on services provided by third parties. By using Dernek you acknowledge that your data may also be processed by:

• Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, Firebase Hosting) — accounts, event and artist data, uploaded images. Firebase is operated by Google LLC under its privacy policy.
• Mapbox — interactive maps on the homepage and event detail pages. Mapbox may log tile requests and IP addresses per its privacy policy.
• Google Fonts— fonts are loaded from Google's CDN, which may log your IP address.

Cookies and local storage

Dernek does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage to remember your language preference across visits (key: dernek-language). Firebase Authentication may store session tokens in localStorage to keep you signed in. No third-party tracking cookies are set.

Data retention

• Account data — kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.
• Event submissions — kept indefinitely to maintain a record of reviewed content. Denied submissions are visible only to admins.
• Newsletter emails — kept until you unsubscribe or request removal.
• Saved events and artist follows — deleted automatically when you delete your account.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You also have the right to object to certain processing or request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email support@dernekbih.com and we will respond within 30 days.

You can delete your Dernek account at any time from your profile page. This removes your saved events and followed artists immediately.

Security

All data is stored on Google Firebase, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. Access to Firestore is restricted by security rules — users can only read and write their own data. Admin access is restricted to verified admin accounts only. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Firebase.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Dernek after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
